Well another case of one step forward 2 steps back. Got lots of good advice on the engine covers issue uncovered when the Weber was removed. Details back in this thread on MG Experience.
Managed to get the manifold and carbs all connected up and did some quick and dirty hose setups as the main objective was to see if she would fire the with HIF4s and to see if they were OK. Iff you want to know what to connect to where on a pair of HIF4’s see this thread that has a good picture – it was very helpful to me!
So all connected we get ready for the big moment – oops fuel leak from the front carb! Found some loose screws into the float cover and tried again but another fuel leak. Take off the float cover to find a missing gasket! Argh. I guess the guy who refurbished them that I got them from must have managed to forget to put this back on/in. Oh well – that was part of the test to check them out – at least the exhaust manifold looks sweet and the carbs look nice with polished dashpots etc. If they run as good as they look I’ll be a happy camper.
So wait for parts before proceeding with the engine covers and do another order for the float cover gasket and the other stuff I forgot. Hopefully the new wiring harness will be in for Monday and if I can get the car to the “doc’s” shop we can start on that Monday night. Until next time

I’ve built this website and spent time on the knowledge base to bring together a lot of information I have collected from around the internet. The intent is making it easy to find rather than having to know about and have skills with search engine query terms to get what you were looking for. Please make use of the knowledge base.
