Fixing The Recline On The Drivers Seat

Well I’m back from UK and starting to tackle a few things again, like Fixing The Recline On The Drivers Seat. In the pre-vacation attempt to put the seats in, I discovered that the recline mechanism on the drivers seat was frozen solid.

Fixing The Recline On The Drivers Seat

I took the seat to the Monday night group therapy session and John helped/did most of the fixing. We removed the seats covers and found the mechanism was well and truly frozen solid. Some PB Blaster type stuff and a BFH were applied and eventually we stood the seat back on the floor and stood on the sides and got it moving again with a crescent wrench used instead of the handle.

Improving the Seat Covers Fitting

Having got the mechanism working John put the seat covers back on, using a black trash bad (bin liner) over the top made pulling the seat back cover down much easier. John really stretch things out and I learned there is a screw to hold down the covers at the bottom of the side panels.

We also stretched out the seat base cover and really stretched it again. John also cut the cover in some places to get it to fit better and even made sure the ribs lined up between the seat and seat back.

It looks really good so I’m glad we took care of that before I tried to put the seats in.

I’ve built this website and spent time on the knowledge base to bring together a lot of information I have collected from around the internet. The intent is making it easy to find rather than having to know about and have skills with search engine query terms to get what you were looking for. Please make use of the knowledge base.
