Heritage Certificates

Heritage Certificates can be very useful. I have information on the originality of my 1977 MGB from print and TV commercials. I also have even more originality documents available. One of these is a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate. Another is the original dealer delivery checklist that was prepared when the car was sold by Kansas City British Motors Inc.

Heritage Certificate

The archive of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust holds the original factory records created by many of the leading British motor manufacturers. My interest is MG but they support many British Manufacturers. As part of this archive of records, they offer a service to get a “Heritage Certificate“. It will confirm key dates, specification of the vehicle as it left the factory and provides a nice piece of history verification. Here is an example, of the certificate for my car, obtained by a prior owner.

Heritage Certificate Re-Issue

As I was writing this post, I discovered that you can have Heritage Certificates re-issued for a discount. So, if you have one in a prior owners’ name, you could get it re-issued in your name. The also offer a Premier version of the Heritage Certificate where they will include a photo you provide, printed onto the certificate. I have just ordered one of those using one of my favorite pictures.

I’ve built this website and spent time on the knowledge base to bring together a lot of information I have collected from around the internet. The intent is making it easy to find rather than having to know about and have skills with search engine query terms to get what you were looking for. Please make use of the knowledge base.
